Where We Work
Our collaboration covers a range of new energies and circular economy technologies all focused on delivering decarbonization including:
Renewable Natural Gas
As part of the Global NRG Advisory team, we work on the sourcing and supply of RNG to corporates and industries on behalf of buyers, sellers and lenders. We are also active in biogas development projects selling into low carbon fuel standards and utility purchase mandates. Finally, we advise transactional parties on how best to structure their relationship to align with domestic and international RNG markets.
Hydrogen Economy
We have been working to build the hydrogen economy from the ground up, including active participation in hydrogen hubs such as our partnership with the Calgary Hydrogen Production Hub and our work on green hydrogen hubs in Ontario and on the east coast of North America. Similarly, we are pleased to work with Lloyd’s Register on a new shipping “green corridor” on the west coast of North America. We are active in promoting hydrogen generators and equipment manufacturers to develop opportunities for hydrogen, ammonia and methanol deployment at scale. Lastly, we work with corporates and industrials looking to enter the hydrogen economy as a participant, such as an off-taker or investor in new development opportunities.
Conversion Technologies / Substitute Natural Gas
We were a project partner in one of Canada’s first waste-to-SNG projects and have remained active with a number of thermal technologies, including participation in the recent Matter Global SNG demonstration facility, highlighting the dual benefits of PFAS waste destruction and SNG generation. As commercial development partner to Responsible Energy’s free radical technology for converting liquid hazardous waste to SNG, we understand the dynamic between SNG and waste destruction industries, as well as the business opportunities open to new SNG technologies. Lastly, we have founded the Canadian Conversion Technologies Industry Initiative to better promote the interests of companies and technologies which are the intersection of Energy Transition and Circular Economy and yet are not recognized as either.
Recycling / Advanced Recycling
The role for Producer Responsibility Organizations to discharge resource recovery for regulated products continues to grow. We were co-founders of one the first PROs in North American and continue to work with Mobius PRO services on behalf of brands across a range of material streams. We are currently involved in circular economy initiatives in organics/commercial food waste, tires, batteries, electronics, waste oils/filers, and textiles, drawing from our real world experience with commercial implementation of resource recovery schemes to best serve these industry initiatives.
Sustainable Aviation
We are pleased to be a founding member, along with Dow and the International Aviation Waste Management Association, in the Closed Loop Aviation Pilot, focussed on addressing aviation plastics through advanced recycling and other recovery technologies. We have also been working with various aviation stakeholders on waste-related pathways to Sustainable Aviation Fuel and related new energy and waste reduction initiatives with airlines, airports, caterers and freight companies. Finally, we are a founding member of Susta.IN, an international sustainability consulting consortium tasked with delivering meaningful results for airports and airlines.
Clean Tech Developers
We continue to support new clean technology companies in their growth, including through bringing valuable partners, financing and commercial support to early-stage and pre-IPO developers. Our focus is on both energies and products/processes that are being disrupted by decarbonization mandates, such as fertilizers, where we work with Carbon Convergence on sourcing and manufacturing a range of new low-carbon soil nutrient products using transformative innovation such as nano-technology. We also support businesses looking to change the emissions profile of our fuels, such as pyrolysis technologies that are well-positioned to benefit from low carbon fuel standards in the United States and Canada.
