Why We Help

Uniquely positioned in specialty markets

Decarbonization markets require commercialization across industries and sectors which have not historically collaborated.

With deep engagements within energy transition and circular economy activities, we are uniquely positioned to put together producers / developers, lenders, and purchasers/off-takers in commercially-viable structures, understanding current and coming challenges across the specialized fields in which we work.

We also understand where future incentives will be to make current initiatives more profitable for all parties.

In short, environmental markets have always been about sound business fundamentals and 2030 Markets is uniquely placed to support these commercial activities.

Canadian Circular Textiles Consortium Founding Member

Jonathan Cocker has long been active in textile resource recovery, principally with Fashion Takes Action (FTA) and the Ontario Textile Diversion Collaborative. Recently, 2030 Markets was invited as a founding member of the Canadian Circular Textiles Consortium, a national initiative founded on the belief that, in order to change a system, we must engage the private sector, government and civil society so that we take a multi-stakeholder approach through a collective impact lens. This means engaging the entire value chain – those who make, sell, buy, wear, dispose, reuse and recycle clothing and textiles, including:

-municipalities
-charity collectors & private collectors
-thrift retailers
-brand owners and retailers
-academics
-NGOs
-industry associations
-innovators
-policy makers
-sorters / graders / exporters
-recyclers
-yarn and fabric mills
-apparel manufacturers
-other textile products manufacturers

It is using this systems change approach comes the latest circular initiative – the Canadian Circular Textiles Consortium (CCTC).

While there are many projects taking place, and advancements are being made, much of the work is happening in silos. This makes it difficult to track, connect and partner on various projects. In an effort to reduce the duplication of resources and to foster collaboration, the CCTC will include stakeholders such as 2030 Markets to partner on a vision and strategy that includes working groups, and that ultimately will benefit all stakeholders who share a vision of a new and “circular” textiles economy for Canada.

2030 Markets supports FTA in recognizing that fashion and textiles is a global industry, and that similarly textile waste is also a global issue which means collaboration has to happen across continents. And we know that there is some great work being done outside of Canada. But while our focus (for now) is on solving Canada’s textile waste problem, we are very much a part of the larger global efforts that are being made, so that we can take these learnings and apply them within a Canadian context.
